The Dry Shampoo for You

Washing your hair everyday is A) statistically not going to happen and B) bad for your hair. But second day hair is always oily and gross and even if you usually just throw it up in a top knot (me), there are some days when you're going to have to wear your hair down when it's super dirty. I truly wasn't living a full life before I started using dry shampoo.

Finding the right dry shampoo is like looking for the right bottle of wine. Any bottle will "work" but you have to shop around to find the one that's best for your taste buds. Everyone's hair is different. In order to find the perfect dry shampoo, I suggest buying a few different travel sized bottles and testing a new one every two weeks. Cheers and good luck!

Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo — $7

This is my favorite dry shampoo of all time. It works great, it smells clean, they sell it everywhere (very important when you're traveling and forget to pack essentials), and you get a lot out of one bottle. PLUS it's CHEAP AF. Like it costs the same as my morning coffee, which probably says more about my coffee habits than this dry shampoo. The other thing I like about this brand is their travel size goes a long way. Five stars. 10/10. Would recommend.

MILK MAKEUP Natural Dry Shampoo — $14

The best thing about this dry shampoo is it's easy to travel with. A lot of times beauty companies produce larger bottles so you can get more bang for your buck, but then if you ever need to pack your trusty spray bottle in your luggage, you end up having to buy the travel size. This dry shampoo kills those two birds with this one reasonably priced, natural looking stone.

DRYBAR Detox Dry Shampoo — $23

I've heard this one is pretty hit or miss for people. I loved it and the fresh scent made it smell like I actually washed my hair recently which we all know is not the case. It doesn't necessarily make your hair feel clean, but it will look clean. It is a little pricy, especially compared other dry shampoos, so if you'll need to spray your hair more than twice a week (me), I wouldn't start off with this brand, just in case you don't fall in love with it.

Verb Dry Shampoo — $14

Since it's a straight up powder, this is more along the traditional lines. My mom would put actual baby powder in my hair as a kid to get the oil out and that is what Verb reminds me of. It's hard to do by yourself and it's a bit messy, but it's worth it. It works so unbelievably well and it adds texture along with removing the oil.

R+Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste — $28

I know what you're thinking. It's a paste, but hear me out: this is more than a dry shampoo. This is a volumizing hair product that, yes, will help you on the second day, but is just as good at giving you that model "dirty hair" look on the first day. It's a paste in the jar, but when you rub it in your hands before application it turns into a powder. Use very sparingly. A little goes a long way.
