Holidays with Netflix: Valentine's Day

There are stereotypically two types of people on Valentine’s Day. One person frolics down the sidewalk, ready to accept all the presents coming their way. Love is in the air and they’re a hopeless romantic. Their significant partner made plans ages ago at a lovely downtown spot to end a perfect day of x’s and o’s and teddy bears. The other person, the painfully single and disgusted one who scoffs at all the red and pink and chocolate hearts they see when they walk into Walgreens to pick up their allergy medicine. The one who wears black on February 14th and ends up eating their weight in store bought cheesecake and Facebook stalking their exes.

Then there’s the rest of us who are somewhere in between. We’re single but we don’t really care and really we aren’t a fan of Valentine’s because there’s so much more chocolate and candy tempting us on a daily basis. We want to acknowledge the holiday but we don’t really feel the need to celebrate it. It’s just another day, but we can slip in a couple relevant holiday exercises. For me, that’s drinking rosé with dinner instead of pinot, and watching holiday themed television episodes instead of my regular shows. Maybe I throw in a heart-shaped box of chocolates with my pizza, who knows.

In the spirit of love and gifts, my Valentine’s Day present to you are my favorite holiday-themed television shows and lovey-dovey movies I curl up and watch with my fuzziest blanket and my bottle of wine.

Happy Valentine’s Day! My cat and I love and cherish all of you.
